Restful Weekend

So yesterday I didn't do anything. It was really nice.

That's not exactly true. I guess I did so a few things, but I just did them all from my computer. First, I updated a bunch of craiglist and Philly Tribe posts about the shows in March. As I have said before, it is shaping up to be a pretty decent month in terms of N Crowd improv. Now if I could only win the lottery..... or I suppose get a full time teaching position.

I also, officially "released" my three books that I wrote. You can buy them for like $10 each or download them for free. I've purchased a few copies and have them floating around the improv community. Matt Nelson enjoyed the first one.

To check out my official page:

Pretty awesome huh?

Tonight I am heading into Philly to perform with the N Crowd in IMPROV SUNDAY! Which is a monthly event held at Fergies. Now that I think about it, I think we've been there alot over the last few months. Shame those peeps don't come and see a regular show.

Oh well.

I suppose I should go and wash my blacks so I don't smell like ass tonight.

Thursday Woo!

Last night we had a big show at Society Hill Playhouse.

We had, as I mentioned in a previous post... Zombie Shark and Lunch Lady Doris with us. Which was... just.. Awesome. And we had a very good show. I am pretty excited for the March to come. Why... Might you ask?

Well we've got a number of special acts come this coming month.

They include:

Comedian Tara Young
The Rare Bird Show
Industrial Improv
Without A Net

And probably one more to be announced.

I'm pretty excited.

Tonight I am not planning on a real stressful night. Rather, I am going to sit back... Update the schedule for The N Crowd, and hopefully proofread some of my 2nd book so Mr. Matt can read it in a week or two.

Oh. I probably should go and get my wash....

Busy Day Once Again

I didn't work today but I have been very busy today.

Doing what you might ask?

Next Stop... The N Crowd!

Today we secured and sent in the proper materials in order to get a bus shelter ad at the corners of 8th and Lombard. Here is a sneak preview. This is rough draft, we added :

It will be pretty awesome, but hopefully it will also bring in some people into the show. Probably not enough to pay for the actual bus shelter, but maybe get us some more exposure. It will be there day and night for 4 weeks. So lets hope that lots of people see it and a few of those people come and see the show.

Show Tomorrow!

Tomorrow's show should be great! We've got some hot Improv groups special guesting with us. They are:

ZombieShark

and

LunchLady Doris

I'm hoping for a decent turn out. The last few weeks have been lacking in terms of turn out. But I am thinking that perhaps we will get a nice crowd tomorrow. We've got two groups with us, so between the three of us, we should get enough people out to see us.

Shows In March

We have 5 shows lined up in March and already it's lining up to be a fun month.

We have a stand up comic, a top notch improv group, and are looking to get even more on board.

So far on board:

Comedian Tara Young

The Rare Bird Show

Without A Net

And I am looking to get my hands on another two groups.

Pretty awesome huh?

That's about it.

Heh.

I might write more later.

Hot And Heavy

Yesterday was fun.

Last night I was in Philadelphia filming a movie! No, Ron Howard didn't call me to play opposite of Tom Hanks. Rather, Len who performed with us in the N Crowd last year, was filming a movie. Now... I'm not going to give away the plot or anything, but it was alot of fun. Everyone else in The N Crowd was in the movie and they were great. I think I had the best scene in the movie. It was pretty hot. whew. I'm sweating just thinking about it.

On a down note... I didn't win the Powerball last night.

Where You At?

Guess I kinda skipped out on posting yesterday. Oh well.

Thrusday's Show

The show was alright, I guess. I thought we were pretty funny, although we didn't really get much of a reaction out of the crowd. Which only consisted of like 8 people. So that kind of sucked. I was hoping that the fact we had 3 special guests for three different groups would bring people to the show.

Not so much.

Sigh.

I'm not so much concerned with the funny, because I think we are pretty good about bringing people in who are funny. I'm concerned with the lack of a crowd. If they don't start showing up, then we aren't going to be there past April. As much as I did enjoy having our 3 special guests there, I don't think we are going to go that route again. I think it's more productive if we had entire groups special guest in order to put people in seats. Plus having another groups means that 6+ people are going to try to get 2 or 3 people to come. Well... For the most part. I can think of notable exceptions.

Yesterday and Today

Yesterday I taught in my favorite 5th grade class. That was pretty awesome and a low stress day. I didn't have to kick anyone out or yell at anyone, too much. Then last night I went into the Citay to visit with a friend of mine. Which was quite awesome. She is always alot of fun.

Today I am heading into the city again to film a movie.

And of course.... win the powerball tonight.

No Work Today

Although I did get a few calls at like 7:50 a.m. today, I decided not to go into work today. I think I just needed one more day to get out of this "Bad Mood" funk. Not that I know why I've been in a bad mood or even how I am getting out of it. I guess I just have a gut feeling.

Tonight is an N Crowd show! Woo hoo! It should be a fun time because we have special guests this week at the show. I hope that they've told everyone they know so that we have decent crowd tonight. I don't want to have to deal with the old ladies in the front having them say that we aren't getting enough people. Actually, I do have to deal with them because I need an explanation why someone was turned away from our show last week. Hmph.

Because if that's going to be "Standard Policy" then the SHP is going to have to find another "Thursday Show."

We shall see.

Yahoo for V-Day

Yesterday was Valentine's Day.

Enough said.

I was somewhat grumpy yesterday. Although it wasn't directly to it being my least favorite holiday in the world. I dunno... I was just have been in a funk for probably the last week. Although that has provided for some interesting improv. It always seems that I am a few notches funnier when I am in a grumpy mood. I don't know, I guess that perhaps I just take out all of my agression on stage.

Today I am feeling a bit better. Although I still have this sense of frustration about me. I'm not sure what it is. Maybe I'm just dissapointed that I am not winning the Powerball Jackpot. Heh.

Regardless, I am ready for tomorrow night. That is when Matt, Mike, and Rick will be special guesting with us at the N Crowd show. I am really looking forward to it. It should be a great show.

Other than that, I am having a very boring day.

What A Rough Day....

Man. Mondays usually aren't all that bad for me. But today was....

Subbing

Subbing in class today wasn't all that great. The classroom I go into is really out of control. I don't know what that teacher does in there, but it's apparent that it isn't much. Most of the students don't seem to have any concept of what is going on or what they should be doing. Most of them looked shocked that I was telling them what to do.

And... I had to break up a fight today. I never have fights in my rooms... but this is how bad things are. Some kid knocked another kid off of his chair and a shoving match broke out. I yelled at both of them and kicked one out and told the other one to come out because I was sending them both to the office. The kid, who I think started things, got all cocky and walked past me and put his shoulder into me as if to push me out of his way.

Well the kid is 4th grade, so I just stood my ground and met his force with alittle of my own and I knocked him over. He looked shocked, which I said, "What? You think you can knock down the great wall of Redhead?"

So they were both suspended for 3 days.

Death and Taxes

And on a similar un-bright note, I did my taxes today. Blah. It pretty much sucked. I am getting $5 back from the Feds and have to pay PA $24.

I know what I am doing with that $5.

POWERBALL!

Assuming I don't win this week.

I am grumpy tonight. I'm not even going to spellcheck this entry.

Blizzard!

It is snowing outside hard! We have... Apparently.... about 12 inches of snow and even more is falling. I am lucky to be home because I almost decided to stay in Philly tonight. If I had decided to stay, I would be staying there today. And I didn't have another set of clothes today... I would be mucho stinky! Heh.

So last night was quite the adventure.

Early Afternoon

As it began to snow lightly, I decided to leave home around 3 ish to head to Philly. I wanted to get there before it really started to snow. I sorta figured I might be staying in Philly, so I wanted to get there before the heavy stuff came down. I got a Matt Nelson's house around 4 for the "Pre-Show" party. We were all excited to see the show at The Grape Street.

However, at around... I think 5:30 p.m. Mike of Industrial Improv called and said that the Grape Street was closing at 6 p.m. It sucked! I mean, they said that the heavy stuff was going to start at like 7 p.m. At 6 p.m. there wasn't any snow on the ground and at 7 p.m. there still wasn't any snow on the ground. They could have easily had a show last night without any issues.

What really sucked was that there was an Improv group from New York named Harsh that had traveled down to perform.

They should have really canceled the show much earlier in the day.

At The Nelson's

So at Matt's house I hung out with The Ninjas. He has a really nice place. I snacked on the food for alittle while. Watched Cory spill beer on the 2nd floor of his house and John spill on the 3rd floor, much to my entertainment. It was pretty entertaining.

Around 7:30ish... I took McFarland with me to the 30th Street station to look for the rest of Industrial Improv.

The 30th St. Station

They weren't there.

Mad Mex

They were here, at a very good Mexican. We hung out there for like 2 hours. Akshay was really drunk. He was throwing food around. It was pretty funny. Of course I made alot of jokes about my current medical problem. Although I'm not going to stay what it is here. (It isn't serious, just funny.) So we hung out there until around 10 p.m. and then went over to Maughn's house, also apart of Industrial Improv. The snow still wasn't sticking to the ground what so ever. In fact, the roads were as fine as they were at 2 p.m. I didn't think it was going to snow all that much. I wasn't impressed.

Maughns PJ Party

So I hung out at Greg's house for a wee bit. I would say from 10 to like 11:30. I again snacked on alot of his food and candy. However, around 11:3o p.m. I glanced out the window and well... the snow was beginning to stick so I said to myself... you know... I need to get out of here. So I said my goodbyes and took off. And it is a good thing I did. The trip home was alright, although I never went faster than 35 mph.

I am glad I did go home because I don't think I could get home today if I wanted to. It is STILL snowing outside. Heh.

Whew

Went to the Dr.'s office.

Everything is relatively okay. Just can't be throwing myself around on stage for 1 or 2 weeks.

Ugh... I hate Fridays

Actually I usually like them because it's the day after an improv show and... it's usually the only day of the week where I stay in at night. I know... Fridays are usually days where people go out. But they aren't for me. I'm weird I guess. But hey... at least I get to watch Battlestarr Galatica.

But today has pretty much sucked. Why? Well I don't really like going into details, but I'm going to go and see a doctor tomorrow to get it taken care of. Hmph. For all 2 people who read this, don't worry... more than likely its nothing. But, it does warrant a 9:30 a.m. appointment with a doctor. If he says, "It's stress related," I wouldn't be surprise.

I hate going to the doctors.

I try to be as self sufficient as I can... so I hate it when I have to ask other people to take care of things.

On an upnote, our show last night was fantastic. I felt like I had a particular good night. My friend Jenna who was there last night gave me alot of positive feedback. Although she might be bias because she always thinks I'm fantastic. Heh. Also last night we had a fantastic photo shoot.

Here are two of the pictures. I think I look rather adorable in both of them.

So tomorrow, assuming my doctor's appointment goes well and a blizzard doesn't set in, I plan on going to the Grape Street Pub tomorrow and seeing:

  • The Ninjas
  • Industrial Improv
  • Harsh

Should be a good show!

Side note: Very sad episode of Battlestar Galatica tonight

I'm Not Being Lazy....

I've just been busy. I actually have only worked one day this week and have still been very busy. I guess I'll just dive right in and pick up where I left off.

Old Friend Comes A Callin'

So on Tuesday, after I got done writing my blog I got a call from an old friend! Jenna! I met Jenna little under a year ago at the N Crowd Auditions. I hung out with her during both auditions and we were both cast in the show. We pretty much hung out together during the first two months and became really good friends. She had to leave the show at end of April, but we still hung out from time to time. I flirted with her a lot, it was more or less a running joke. What can I say... I am a sucker for beautiful women named Jenna.

A few months ago she had a death in the family and had to go back to the Boston area. She came back on Tuesday to pack up the last few remaining things before she heads up there for good. I am going to miss her. She's a pretty awesome friend and it's always a laugh when I hang out with her. Fortunately, I have her address up there so she'll be getting postcards and what not from time to time.

N Crowd is going... BIG TIME!

So the current discussion around the old water cooler right now is if we should get a bus shelter sign. Its a bit expensive, but it may help with advertising. Or at the very least, look really cool. I'm not sure if it'll work, but hey it is worth a try. The only thing is that we are all going to have to chip in for this because we are running low on funds. No mula, no sign-a. So we shall see. Everyone was told to come on Thursday with an idea for the design. I have one. And I've go the impression that I'll probably be the only one who brought something. Heh.

Brrrrrrr....

I heard through the grapevine that we might get 12 inches of snow this weekend?

Yawn...

I forgot to write in here last night. Go figure.

Last night wasn't the usual routine. Instead of going to Chester's to study, he came here to have dinner and studied here. It was a very nice night. Mom made him spaghetti and Meatballs which he seemed to enjoy immensely. He also got a lot of studying done as well, so it was a very productive night.

Teaching yesterday was pretty fun. For most of the day I was in Pre-1st and it was a fun time. Those guys are pretty adorable so I've always get a bunch of good stories from them. For the last two hours of the day, I was in a 5th grade which was not so fun. We were practicing writing essays and they argued with me with the prompt the entire time. What a bunch of complainers.

Well it's about 7 a.m. and I haven't gotten a call yet. I don't think I'll be working.

I think I'll get my oil changed today.....

Super Ball Sunday

Random thoughts from me on this sports event day....

I haven't recieved any calls for the car in the recent days.... until this afternoon.

Penny Pincher Call Update: 10 Calls

Although I don't like the Steelers, I hope they win tonight because they are from Pennsylvania.

I won $7 in the Powerball last night. I reinvested the money in another ticket and hope to win $70,000,000 on Wednesday. If I win, I'll send anyone who reads this $1,000 in pennies or quarters.

I put the new trailer on the N Crowd website. I hope people like it. I think it is pretty clever, but I don't know if everyone will "get it." It might be my favorite thus far.

mmm..... yep, that's all that is going on with me today.

Thunder and Writing

Whew. It is raining buckets outside. And as I write this, there is currently a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for this county. Glad I am inside. Well, as I have been too tired for the last few days. I figure I should run down what I've been doing.

Subbing

On Tuesday and Wednesday this week I subbed in a 4th grade which was really nice. The class itself, as I think I mentioned, was fairly low maintenance. Although I did have one student who thought she could cop an attitude. She thought wrong.

On Thursday I subbed in a 1st grade. They were pretty cute and adorable. A really funny moment was when I took them to the computer lab. They were getting on the computers and using the internet for the first time. The computer teacher was showing them how to click on the icons to get to the internet. The screen was being projected to a large screen and it was showing the home page, which was the page of the school.

One kid yelled, "I've been there!"

Which immediately another said, "You are there...."

It was funny.

And on Friday I subbed in 5th grade. Actually I've been there many times this year so it was pretty nice. The kids all know me and I know everyone's quirks. So again it was a fun day.

Improv

The show on Thursday was pretty decent. We didn't have a very big crowd, but we had enough for the show. We had two special guests that night:

I had pretty good show. I thought I was entertaining. I'm very pleased with how the N Crowd is going. We are a very tight crew and we are getting better and better at our scenes.

I can't wait for the rest of this month!

Friday, February 03, 2006

I wish I was zzzz

I am tirrrrrrrrrrrred today. Very, very, very, very tired.

I didn't get back in from the show last night until alittle after midnight. And today I taught 5th grade. Whew.

The Show

The show as pretty good. Our musical guest wasn't our usual rock group, but I think everyone enjoyed her. We are going to be performing at her show later this month. I'd link it right now, but I don't feel like it . I'll probably put a post up tomorrow with the appropriate links.

Our special improv guest had a strong set. I'm glad they could come out and perform with us. I certainly hope they were impressed with us.

I'd write more... but honestly. I'm tired. I'll type something up later.

Sneak Preview!

Check out the next N Crowd trailer.

I hope Matt N. posts it.

Enter The Natrix

Hmmm...

I wonder where Chester is. It is study night and he isn' there. Sometimes I get here early because he gets out of work late, however he is not here right now. It's been bout, 20 or so minutes. I'll give him a call after I type this up. See where he is.

Subbing

For the last two days I have been subbing in the same 4th grade classrooms. It was actually a real pleasant time. They class was very low maintenance. Not to say they were boring because oh they were not. I had a couple of students who thought they head to provide entertainment for the rest of the classroom while I was there. Needless to say that stopped within 20 mins of each day. It's amazing what you can do with a stern look.

Tomorrow I am not currently scheduled to work anywhere. Which isn't a big deal because I do need to get my oil changed.

Improv Tomorrow!

Tomorrow is exciting. Because we've got some awesome special guests.

First we have Penni and Carla of The Melange Theater singing for 30 mins.

Then after that we have The Ninjas, with the infamous Matt Nelson doing 30 minutes of longform improv.

And then The N Crowd does its set.

A good time should be had by all. It would be awesome if our 30 people who came last week, came this week. And then if the Ninjas brought 30 people. We'd have like... over 20 people there. It would be truely awesome.

On another Improv note.... pretty soon this journal will get a sneak peak of the all new.. N CROWD TRAILER!

It's probably the best one yet.

Hey! I think Chester is here!
